Work with Me

Before your First Session:

Complete your intake paperwork, review your welcome packet to make sure you have everything you need for your first visit!

Your First Session: Intake & Assessment

Your first visit is centered around us getting to know one another and clarifying desired outcomes for our work together.   We’ll review your intake forms, discuss your needs and concerns in further detail, and identify your main goals for yoga therapy.

As yoga therapy is holistic by nature, I’ll ask questions that help me get a full picture of what’s going on in your life.  Beyond the physical, this may include questions about things like your sleep, work, and lifestyle.  You’ll also have the opportunity to ask me questions!

Once we’ve checked in with each other, I’ll then guide you through a basic yoga practice.  Depending on the reason for your visit, this may include a body awareness practice, breathing exercises, and/or simple movements.  This practice helps us both get a sense of where we’re starting from, and also provides me with an opportunity to assess your joint range-of-motion, movement patterns, etc.   If you are seeing me for a musculoskeletal condition, I may take photographs during the practice to keep as a reference of your baseline.  You are free to decline if this causes discomfort.

At the end of the visit, we’ll review your experience of the practice and discuss next steps.

Continuing Sessions

Every session starts with a check-in, which allows me to make adjustments to our visit to better meet your current needs. While I generate a detailed session plan for every client appointment, my priority is always to meet you where you are in the moment.

After we’ve checked in, we’ll move through your yoga practice.

At the end of the session, we’ll review how the practice was for you. This is a great time to ask me questions and consider what aspects of the practice felt most helpful for you.

After our session, I’ll make recommendations for your home practice for the following week, if you have one. Sometimes, your home practice will consist mainly of physical postures and/or breathing techniques. Other times, it will include incorporating a new habit into your daily routine, or some time of contemplative practice, such as journaling. You’ll receive detailed notes about your practice, as well as links to any other resources we discussed, via email later that day.
